A global sporting event racing to zero carbon
SailGP is an annual, global sailing championship featuring supercharged 50 feet catamaran racing in some of the world’s most iconic harbours.
Among other event management responsibilities we were in charge of implementing the SailGP sustainability programme at the Marseille event during SailGP Season 1 that raised the standards for the series and are continuing this work for Season 2's St. Tropez event.
We work with all the event stakeholders including institutions, partners, suppliers, staff and volunteers to implement solutions to reduce the environmental impact of the event combined with positive outreach to the local community.
With the combined effort of all involved and in collaboration with local organisations, using the circular economy model, we inspire suppliers to explore ways to increase their general operational sustainability standards leaving a legacy beyond the race period.
Through our actions, data analysis found that we had considerably reduced the general waste produced by the Season 1, three-day event and increased the amount of recovered waste.
